Direct drive
The Direct drive antenna turning unit consists of a rotary torque motor with associated electronic controller. The torque motor drives the antenna directly; there are no gearwheels or belts.
Four different types of the Direct drive antenna turning unit are available. The antenna type, the maximum rotational speed and the maximum wind speed the antenna is to turn at determine which type is required.
Series TM5 Turning units are mounting- compatible with the conventional CHL type 5 turning unit.
Series TM6 Turning units are mounting-compatible with the conventional CHL type 6, type ST2 and type ST3 turning units.

APPLICATIONS
- Coastal surveillance radars which require fast switching between low and high speed to accommodate long and short pulse radar mode.
- Radars for the detection of fast vessels, e.g., fast ferries and water taxis.
- Radars with advanced radar video processing where the time between successive scans can be optimized for signal-to-clutter ratio improvement.
- Radar stations at remote locations where regular maintenance is difficult to provide for.
- Radar stations in areas where only very low noise levels are acceptable.
